THORNSIDE TRAIL ANNIVERSARY RIDE

Back where it all began, this trail covers the original Kilkivan Great Horse Ride trail!  We leave Thornside at 7.30am sharp, and cover approximately 30kms.  Fit horses with experienced riders strongly recommended, to navigate steep climbs and sharp descents. Shod or booted horses recommended due to some very rocky sections on track. Morning tea will be at the historical Mount Clara smelter and lunch will be served at the Kilkivan Bush Camp.  Take this time to water and rest your horse before joining up with the other trail riders to assemble for the Main Street Parade commencing at 4.00pm sharp.

Morning tea and lunch are included in ticket price. Horse water will be available on track at 3 watering points.

This ride ends at a different location (Kilkivan) to where it begins (Widgee) and will require your camp to be moved off the Thornside property Saturday, if arriving and camping at Widgee Friday night.  Ideally your support crew will relocate your camp in readiness for your arrival at Kilkivan.

There is a charter bus available to return riders without support, back to Thornside to collect vehicles/floats after arriving at the Showgrounds following the Main Street Parade.  Seats are limited and are $5pp, please secure your seat when booking your trail ticket. Horses must be able to be tied within a secure communal yard if you do not have support crew.  Please note there is no camping at Thornside Saturday night, only Friday night.  We appreciate the Webb family allowing us to camp at their property “Thornside”.
